The use of marble in architecture dates back to 400 BC, but it is best known for its use in Roman design and Greek antiquity. Marble has long been a desirable material due to its smooth finish and wide range of colours and patterns. From the white marble of the Acropolis to the intricate coloured marble of Ancient Rome’s Pantheon, marble is a sign of quality, status and style.
Since antiquity, coloured marble has been used as a building material in constantly changing aesthetic and historical contexts, and it is therefore still hugely popular, and a desirable choice for many family homes. What you may not know, is that many marble designs are actually created with quartz – which, many have argued, is more durable and usable than actual marble. It’s also ideal for kitchen worktops…
So what are the benefits of marble quartz worktops? We hear you ask.

It’s incredibly durable
As Quartz worktops are engineered, they are incredibly durable and therefore ideal for kitchens. Stronger than granite, quartz worktops are heat resistant and can withstand much more than other surfaces. This isn’t to say quartz work surfaces should be abused; like any beautiful decor applied to the home, your quartz worktops should be looked after with the appropriate care and maintenance.
They’re scratch and stain resistant
Quartz worktops are scratch resistant; the only natural stones that are harder than quartz are Diamond, Sapphire and Topaz. In comparison granite and real marbles, both Gemini Quartz® and Aurea Stone have stain resistant properties due to the non-porous properties of the materials, mastered in the manufacturing process.
