Castle Point Apartments- Nottingham.
The brief for the development was to provide modern ‘city living’ within The Park Conservation Area, a scheme which complements and enhances the rich textures of the existing local architecture. The ethos of the project has been to create striking features, such as the retention of a series of extensive roof lights and the creation of a central atrium.
The kitchen had to continue this cutting edge interior design as property buyers for luxury apartments expect a stunning kitchen that will stand the test of time. Specifying the right kitchen worktop surface was important and as Gemini Quartz is hard wearing and highly resistant to scratches and staining, it was a natural fit for the development.
“The surface looks like a natural material such as granite, but has a contemporary twist with the mirror flecks running through it which prove to be a real ‘wow factor’ under the modern high-energy efficient LED kitchen lights. Added to this we know it is one of the most durable and easy to maintain kitchen worktop surfaces on the market.”
The kitchen design was kept clean and simple using handleless white units. A large one and a half bowl stainless steel sink is complemented with a series of drainer grooves cut into the surface. Truly bespoke touches add to the design, such as carrying the upstands through at a slightly higher than average height of 200mm, so they run through at the same height into an open breakfast bar area.
Including a splashback behind the Neff hob also ensures minimal maintenance is required, as Gemini Quartz typically only needs hot soapy water and a cloth to keep clean.
