Festive Style Idea for the Fireplace this Christmas

Christmas is just a few days away and those final preparations are taking place in homes across the world. The fireplace is the centre point of our living rooms, and is the ideal spot to decorate at Christmas. What could be better than spending a cosy evening in front of the fire, with a festive mantelpiece to steal the show?  If you want to set the ultimate festive atmosphere for your guests on Christmas day, read on for some simple style ideas for your fireplaces.

Sparkle with some fairy lights

Whether you have a brick or a stone fireplace, decorate the area with some sparkling fairy lights. Traditional fireplaces look stunning with gold lights – but look even better with lights that come with holly or pine cones. Marble fireplaces pop with simple decorations, such as twinkling silver fairy lights. Another great look is filling decorative jars with lights and place across your mantel and hearth for an enchanting effect. You should be able to find items like this at your local home and lifestyle shop.

Spread the Christmas message

Got a Christmas message to share? Say it on the mantelpiece! Gold or silver letter figurines can be used to portray a Christmas message. Our favourites are ‘joy’ and ‘merry’. Another alternative is bunting; pick some up or make your own and spread the Christmas cheer through beautifully styled lettering.

It’s all about bold pieces

An empty fireplace is a dull fireplace! Make the area pop with bold, bright pieces – why not experiment with colour outside the traditional greens, golds and reds. A statement oversized garland, laden with bright baubles will bring your fireplace to festive life.

No fire? Fill it !

Not all of us have electric fires – some fireplaces are empty and purely for decoration. Even if you don’t have a fireplace to warm up with, you can make the area welcoming by filling it with presents! Either place wrapped gifts in the centre, or wrap empty boxes if you haven’t quite finished your Christmas shopping yet. Another idea is to fill your fireplace with candles. It will create a similar cosy atmosphere to a real burning fire but with a touch more charm.
